An indoor family photo session is about capturing your family as you are, in the exact place where you get to spend your days together. Photo sessions in your home don't need to be complicated, but being prepared can always make the session go smoother.

Here are a few simple ways to prepare so your photos feel natural and meaningful:

Find the best light in your home.

Light is so important when it comes to indoor photo sessions.

  • Before your session, take note of when the light brightens the rooms of your home throughout the day.

  • the best example of rooms would be ones with lots of windows, or doors that allows the natural light in.

  • you only need 1-2 spots with natural light.

Intentionally planning photos that have meaning.

Plan photos by your daily routines, tasks or ACTIVITIES.

Then photos will become personal, emotive, and truly document the season of life you're currently in.

Let your kid's move, play, be silly, and most importantly it's okay if we need to take breaks :)

  • making breakfast or baking in the kitchen

  • watching movies on the couch

  • reading books together

  • playing with toys on the floor

  • rocking your baby to sleep in the nursery

Simple Spaces.

you do not need to deep clean your whole house, or get rid of things before the photo session, AS YOUR HOUSE SHOULD FEEL LIVED IN.

However, it can be helpful to simplify the spaces we will be taking photos in. Clearing away countertops, coffee tables, and every day items like mail, cords, and water bottles.

Snacks, toys, and all things kids related.

  • This is not mandatory, but if it's helpful; put aside a few things your kids can munch on or play with if photos get too much for them.

  • and again, if needed, it is more than okay if we need to take a few breaks**

Intentional images.

Your indoor photo session is a reflection of your everyday life, that's well-lived & full of real moments.
